Beyond US passport, Australian visa form, please advise other requirements to visit the Gold Coast, immunizations? Think I have all the paperwork, but what am I missing?

Thank you for making this surprise beautiful.

Take a look at http://smarttraveller.gov.au/
It's Australian Government's travel advisory and consular assistance service.

Bring heaps of cash and a smile, you'll have the best time, you won't want to go home!

The only immunisation I can think of that may be relevant is tetanus which many of us let slip over the years anyway.

The most important thing to remember is that the Queensland sun can cause serious sunburn in less than an hour so make sure you use sunscreen, wear sunglasses (yes your eyes can also burn) and protect your face with a hat.

Only swim between the flags so our fantastic lifeguards can watch out for you.

Don't forget your credit card, because the shopping on the Gold Coast is fantastic.

An umbrella could come in handy because it does rain sometimes, especially summer evenings, when it's almost a welcome relief to see the stormclouds approach.

Thongs (footwear not lingerie) are a must, even if you only wear them on the beach - the sand gets very hot.

Insect repellent is vital if you're sensitive to mosquito bites.

I'm not sure if you need an adaptor for your hairdrier etc?

Anyway, all of those things you can easily buy if you need them when you get here.

If you take prescription drugs, make sure you bring the scripts with your medication in case you need medical attention while you're here.

Ensure that you have travel insurance (just in case).

In case you're not aware, there is no requirement to tip in Australia, although it's usually a pleasant surprise to staff and usually gets you a few merit points ensuring extra special service!

This sounds like a hugh warning notice, but a few simple things like avoiding sunburn and mozzie bites can make your holiday the great one that I know it will be.

Have a wonderful time on the Gold Coast.

Have a look at this website dedicated to the Gold Coast, pack the smallest bathing suit you own, and prepare to have a blast!
