Its a fantastic idea to provide laptops for all the children in the world and its actually feasible if enough people with means participate. I just bought one and got one. I think its a really great way to put a much needed emphasis on a broad education for everybody. What do you think?

I was one of the first people to sign up for the give one get one program for the OLPC.

Personally I think it is a good idea that is doomed to failure. I hope it will work, I hope it will help give a hand up to someone who needs it.......but I'm a bit pessimistic about its overall success.

I wish they would make the laptops available as I would personally like to set up some computer labs in some developing nations where I know the teachers and students and I know the benefits.

However, when selling only to governments or in lots of thousands I think it will get tied up in red tape and beurocracy.

As for the laptop I'm going to get....may sell it on ebay to make a profit and buy two more :) Or keep it myself as it looks to be the most durable laptop I will ever buy and one that will work in the solar house I'm building :)
