again, it's ironic that the metaphor has more "meaning" than the literal interpretation

but sheesh, next you'll be telling us that Jesus spoke in parables

Water lacks the complex hydrocarbon and sugar chains necessary for it to be readily turned into wine. I have no idea how Jesus did it, if he did it.

My bet is that he simply sent out for some Gallo.

After all, if he could turn water into wine, he wouldn't have been a wandering preacher; he'd have opened a tavern!

Is the story a metaphor? I don't know. It never occurred to me to wonder. It's an interesting point, though.

I believe, in that case, that it was literal. I"m going to take some flack from some of my AM friends, but I think that Jesus, though I don't believe he was God, was able to perform miracles through some form of mysticism. Personally, I think that he was so "in tune" with the universe, such a special soul, that he was able to do things the rest of us study for years to even begin to understand.
Although I do like the idea of the metaphor, especially since I study Alchemy, the study of turning one's soul from lead (impure) to gold (pure). The water to wine metaphor would have meant the same thing in biblical times. Water was unhealthy to drink much of the time, whereas wine was, because of it's chemical makeup, much safer. Even children drank wine.

there is not any biblical verse that asserts that the wine turn into alcoholic, in spite of the shown fact that this is traditionally suitable that it turn into. additionally, there is not any Christian regulation that asserts eating is a sin. There are biblical verses that say drunkenness and debauchery are sins, yet not enjoying a pitcher of wine with dinner or a pitcher of champagne on new years or consistent with danger a lager at a decrease back backyard fish fry. On yet another notice, i visit on no account comprehend why this is that one in each of those huge difficulty between Christians. can we please see the massive photograph!?! actual, you should ask why Jesus did this, no if there turn into alcohol in touch or not. that doesn't rely. He did the miracle for the host of the party. It turn right into a marriage reception and decrease back then it turn into culturally unacceptable to expire of lodging of any variety on your travelers. It turn into so unacceptable that the marriage travelers might have legally robbed him of high priced possessions and raided his living house in the event that they wished to. as a result Jesus became the water to wine.

Different people have different turn-ons, and they are intolerant about anyone else's turn-ons, e.g. hippies smoked marigjuana but disapproved of squares drinking alcohol. People who get high on religion do not want antyone to do it any other way. Still, Jesus probably never existed. there are too many contradictions about him in the Bible, and the lack of historical evidence.
