ironic that the metaphor has more "meaning" than the literal interpretation, huh?

He didn't fulfill the prophesies of the messiah, and the messiah, when he comes, will not be worshipped as a God nor hailed as the savior from sin. Messianice prophesies that Jesus did not fulfill: -- The Sanhedrin will be re-established (Isaiah 1:26) -- Once he is King, leaders of other nations will look to him for guidance. (Isaiah 2:4) -- The whole world will worship the One God of Israel (Isaiah 2:17) -- He will be descended from King David (Isaiah 11:1) via King Solomon (1 Chron. 22:8-10) -- He will be a man of this world, an observant Jew with "fear of God" (Isaiah 11:2) -- Evil and tyranny will not be able to stand before his leadership (Isaiah 11:4) -- Knowledge of God will fill the world (Isaiah 11:9) -- All Israelites will be returned to their homeland (Isaiah 11:12) -- Death will be swallowed up forever (Isaiah 25:8) -- There will be no more hunger or illness, and death will cease (Isaiah 25:8) -- All of the dead will rise again (Isaiah 26:19) -- The Jewish people will experience eternal joy and gladness (Isaiah 51:11) -- The peoples of the world will turn to the Jews for spiritual guidance (Zechariah 8:23) -- The ruined cities of Israel will be restored (Ezekiel 16:55) -- Weapons of war will be destroyed (Ezekiel 39:9) -- The Temple will be rebuilt (Ezekiel 40) -- He will take the barren land and make it abundant and fruitful (Isaiah 51:3, Amos 9:13-15, Ezekiel 36:29-30, Isaiah 11:6-9).

Several years ago they did a study. The finding was that it was possible that Jesus did appear to walk on water. He in fact could have walked on sandbars. Having grown up near the water Jesus and his followers would readily know about the sandbars, while the Roman Soldiers coming from across the empire would be unlikely to know about them. As far a lesson for his disciples, definitely.

This really depends on your way of the interpretation. No one knows for sure if anything in the Bible happened the way it did or did not since the only recorded document, or primary source, is the Bible itself.
I believe it was literally walking on water. I do believe that Jesus has 12 deciples. Logically, it would be true if Jesus was trying to test his deciples specifally. What better way to test a person's faith? Making someone do something literally impossible, supernatural, and life threatening is the best way to test a person's true faith.

I believe that he literally walked on water, also it could be taken as a metaphor and yours is a really good one. WOW! I was amazed. Please dont listen to the ppl that dont believe in Jesus and dont believe he could walk on water because what they fail to understand that he was not of this world, he was supernatural and the son of God on earth. God bless.

I doubt that jesus really existed, let alone walking on water. Ninja of japan walk on water though, so it is a trick. There are many contradictions about Jesus in the Bible, and some Christians seem to have forged accounts of him in histories long after his time, if we can determine his time. matthew and Luke give dates 10 to 15 yers apart for his date of birth.

He did
and it is a kind of metaphor, for when life gets really hairy and wild
We will find ourselves calm in the midst of unfathomable turmoil,
but quickly sink like Peter
Oh the irony when we look outward and look at the fear

The Bible says "Let the little children come to me for such is the kingdom of God." How are the little children suppose to not only come to Him but understand Him if what He says in the Bible isnt true? The Bible also says ..... "if you have the faith of one of these children....." If a child is suppose to believe something that isnt actually in writing these kids must be much much smarter than I.
