Do you personally think there is treasure up there waiting for you?

It really depends on what you mean by "treasure". When Jesus spoke these words in the Sermon on the Mount, He was contrasting all the worldly goods people had (things that would corrupt or risk being stolen, for example) with things that would never have any such risk. He was, among other things, contrasting selfishness (stop laying up . . .for YOURSELF (my emphasis)) with generosity.

Now, rewards are promised to believers who meet certain qualifications, etc. In the New Testament, we can earn up to five different crowns or rewards. There may be other rewards for faithful service, too, but I don't want anyone to think that the Christian faith is mercenary or rewards-driven. We should live for Christ and work for Him because we love Him, period!

May I close with an anonymous quote? "Treasures in Heaven are laid up, as treasures on earth are laid down".

The treasure stored in heaven is not literal materialistic treasure. God is saying plan for heaven, not a life that will simply end on earth.
Matthew 6:19-24 "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The lamp of the body is the eye; if, therefore, thine eye be healthy, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If, therefore, the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and money."

Yes there is.

Matthew 6:19-21
19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Treasures, meaning not necessarily "things," like gold and silver, but intangible things that have everlasting value, like Life and having it more abundantly. The annointing and glory of God. If you don't have a relationship with God, you won't understand that those things have more value than tangible things here on earth. Because the bible says that everything on earth will pass away. You can't take gold and jewelry and clothes, and money to heaven.

Yes.

Now the real question is:

What do I (or others) value as treasure?

I turned down participation in a "for sure" negligence law suit that would have returned millions of dollars to me for my own reasons. Obviously money is not my "treasure".

So what is "treasure"?

For me it is God.

a million) spread the Gospel. 2) go out and help the homeless, do random acts of kindness, yet be confident you do not brag about it or factor out it to individuals, or you'll lose your reward for it in Heaven. 3) Be type to someone that individuals hate or worry.
