It's not as bad as having an abortion, which is a mortal sin that can only be absolved by a bishop, but it is a sin to use a condom or any other form of artificial birth control during sex.

+ Birth Control +
The Catholic Church allows natural forms of birth control.
Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control is against the will of God.
Here is the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop's website on Natural Family Planning: http://www.usccb.org/prolife/issues/nfp/
+ Contraceptives vs Abortifacients +
Catholic teaching condemns the intentional killing of the unborn at any time from conception on, defining conception as taking place when “the ovum is fertilized.”
There is a sharp moral distinction between contraceptives, which prevent conception, and abortifacients, which destroy the fertilized egg.
Intrauterine devices and so-called “morning-after” pills are abortifacients because they destroy a fertilized egg.
For more information, see Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 1934 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect1chpt2art3.htm#1934

the sin is not the condom, the sin is you are making love to a woman without legalality, mean to be married in good term.
why paper and a pen was created so a guy like you wont do a batard (son without father). so the woman will have right.
if you girl do an abortion, you are the only one responsable, only you mostly is. do you think you will live forever and come back to life, when you smoke a cigarette can you make it back as was never smoked. its the same with you life.
you are responsable of your action when you ll die, you ll bring nothing with (gold, girls, tv, xbox none of that) only your sins and actions. do u know why we dont know enought because we will trespas the reason, many become crazy, why i had a friend who is like you tried later to understand the meaning of \all this life, untill now, he dont know who he is, he died forgeting how to eat.
a woman is not a sex object, even if she wants it, you are responable of your action, you say no. the kids who is aborted, do you think he will let you live peacefully

I am pretty sure that you are correct. I am not catholic but that is what I have heard from a prof when we were having a debate on Abortion. I am thinking however that the abortion would be a bigger sin!

It's a sin to bring a child into this world and not have the resources to care for and the desire to raise this child in a loving environment where he/she feels safe.

Depends upon who you talk to. The church doctrines say it is, but then the catholic church owned the largest condom factory in Europe. Go figure.
