My guy just proposed last week, and I'm really excited! Now I am curious what kind of wedding band I should get with my engagement ring when we get married. Here is a link to the ring he got me (hope the link works):

The side of the ring is not flat, so should I get a wedding band that conforms to the contours of the side of the ring, or just a simple band that is a uniform ring shape? I know I can "do whatever I want", I'm just wondering what is typically done when the side of the engagement ring is contoured due to the setting of the diamonds.

Another question: if you get one that fits the contours but don't get them soldered together, will they stay fitted together on their own? Or do they tend to separate and twist (so that they are not aligned anymore) when on your finger?

That looks so much like mine!! Mine has the side diamonds like yours--but they are 3 smaller diamonds on each side instead. Other bands just had too much of a space between the engagement ring and wedding band and it would pinch your skin.

It was very difficult but I found that the chevron band fit flush with it, since it goes down more than the contour. Here is the one I got

You'd need a fairly low profile band for it not to rub against the mount of the diamonds. Better to get a band that matches the ring and contours with it.

I have a contour band and the two rings are not soldered together. They DO twist around some, more so since I had my rings sized up because I'm (ahem) slightly larger than I used to be. The rings fit more loosely now and more prone to twisting out of alignment.

Have your man check with the jewellers where he bought the ring, there may be a matching wedding band. Mine had one, even though he only bought the engagement ring first.
If there isn't a matching one, just get a very simple band, the same width as the engagement ring.
As for soldering, many women regret getting it done. There are LOTS of times in your future to come, especially depending on what work you do, and if you are planning to have children, that you may only want to wear your wedding band.

I think you will need a contour band. You may also be able to get a flat wedding band soldered to your engagement ring after the wedding. ask your jeweler if it's possible.

I don't have a contour wedding band, but it seems like it would stay to place better than a flat band.

I belive what is typically done is getting a band that macthes the ring in your case conforms to the contours of the side of the ring!

Congrats!

There are rings that are specifically made for solitaire or 3-stone settings. The ones I've seen have diamonds and are slightly curved where it would lay against the stones of the engagement ring. I've seen them at Sam's Club and some other place, but I forgot the name. Congratulations!\

I would go with this one: http://robbinsbros.com/ProductSearch/searchResult.asp?p=4&prodTypeID=1118&prodAttrID3=102&prodAttrValueID3=Diamond%2C1366&attcount=3&searchString=Yellow+Gold%26nbsp%3B%3E%26nbsp%3BLadies%26nbsp%3B%3E%26nbsp%3BDiamond&pType=ring&intIsJewelry=0

Looks like mine... except mine is platinum.

I would suggest that you do not sauter the rings together because you may only want to wear your wedding band when traveling. If the ring is well balanced (the weight on both sides of the band), it shouldn't 'spin' on your finger.

I had mine made to fit my e-ring. They took a mold of my e-ring so they could design a ring that would flush right up to it. It has diamond all around and really it was cheaper than ever expected.

I couldn't use the link but it sounds like mine. I just got a wedding band that had flat sides. It looks much more traditional...not like the wraps. Personally I don't like them.
