Get a small jar of PURE 'shea butter' and put that onto your hands and then put mittens over them and keep them 'warm' ... that warmth will cause more of the good oils in the shea butter to get deeper into your skin. You may need to do this three times a day (for at least 15 minutes each time), and when you wash your hands, do it with a good 'shea butter' soap. Your hands are probably rough because you are washing them with a 'disinfectant' that leeches moisture from your skin, or you are washing them so frequently the water is leeching the moisture from your hands. Shea butter WILL HELP. Also, check all of the soaps you use, and get rid of any with 'sodium laureth' or anything spelled similarly ... that will DRY your hands and make them rough, and it's in almost EVERY soap, shampoo, and even LOTION ... shea butter can be in the same stuff, so read the ingredients, and get the ones that have ONLY shea butter and NO 'sodium laureth' in them. Good luck.

I agree that rough hands is discouraging physicaly, but did you know that rough hands signify that you are a very industrious person?
I may not know your job, but i believe it's something that deals more on handwork, where the pressure is great o your hands.
In that case, I think the best way to deal with that is to soak your hands in a warm water every after you work your hands. Soak it for about 20 minutes everyday becasue it removes the calloused skin in your hands, which is the cause of great pressure applied to your hands.

Coat your hands with vaseline and put some gloves on, and sleep in them. You might want to wrap them with tape to keep them on. Also get a good oil, like almond oil, pour it into your hands and add a big scoop of sugar. Rub this all around and it will exfoliate the dry skin off. Just rinse with water after about a minute of rubbing.

you need a pommice to rough down the skin after soaking it in gentle wash and warm water. Silky mits work and so does aluminium oxide microdermabrasion by loreal (intended for your face). The best moisturizer is the vitamin e booster from body shop. It smells heavenly and makes everything feel like silk.

You can make your own hand scrub using olive oil and sea salt. Then make sure to moisturize often.
You can buy expensive products to do the same (from Bath and Body Works or somewhere similiar) but you can make the same at home for a lot less.

they have wax things at salons... that you put your hands in the warm wax... take them out let them dry then peel the wax off & it softens them... maybe scrubbing the dead skin off... or what will help the most... is those cotton gloves... apply a lot of lotion before sleep then put the gloves on and it'll keep the lotion on... the gloves are in the cosmetic area not the regular outdoor gloves

don't expose them to harsh water (very hot, very cold), harsh weather (very cold/windy/sunny), harsh chemicals (soaps, cleaning products).
Scrub them with oatmeal (good old oatmeal - uncooked) and lukewarm water -- gets circulation going, sloughs off dead skin cells, and leaves hands soft and smooth. Consider slathering lotion on your hands - A LOT - and sleep with cotton gloves (they allow your skin to breathe) and do the same for your feet while you're at it.
Also: When giving yourself a facial, make sure to use any leftovers on the top of your hands :)
good luck :)
