Surely there is a law that could be passed, that would make the consequences so unpleasant that the illegals would make haste to get out of our country.

Require a fool proof national ID card which must be shown to get a job, start a bank account, obtain a drivers license or access any type of government service. Most other nations have them why don't we?

I doubt there would be anything unpleasant enough to make them go home on their own. If a 10 yr prison sentence were passed, we would still be supporting them! And the prisons are full as it is!
Though finding something unpleasant enough does sound like a solution, there probably is not one making it more unpleasant than from where they came from. Perhaps making them live as they did where they came from with restrictions added would do the trick!
How about they will be the first to get sent to Mars to colonize the 'Red Planet'!
Better still they could be sentenced to Alcatraz!

The biggest draw, I believe, is the chance to drop anchor babies and get access to social services.
So, I'll suggest that a law that ended access to all social services and medical care would do it.
Offering a bounty for each illegal turned in would certainly work, too, but I'm afraid many innocent people would be turned in because of the eagerness of others to get the rewards.

Make it a law that if anyone does not have proper documents to be here legally, they have 24 hours to leave the country. Inundate congress and white house demanding action on the border fence that was passed into law and funds appropriated to get it done already. Other countries have fences to keep undesireables out.

Anything short of the above two answers isn't going to work will ALL illegals...
Some will leave if they can't find employment. Some will find a way to make money under the table, and, some will become a danger to society.
Short of death (which would be completely crazy), there is nothing that I forsee working completely.

I can't think of a single law that would stop it completely, only reduce it over time. Eventually, it would make a huge difference.... and I've shot a lot of rabbits in my time, Calo, a few more won't bother me.

Why not shoot the one that hires them? why is it that you people only blame the illegals? besides most people that talks about shooting immigrants don't even have the guts to confront their wives. Anyway... Immigrants come here to work, so just take away that and any other freebee they get and they'll leave by themselves.
