Also remember that prostitution is illegal so dont be caught with your pants down, and be sure to take precautions cos hiv is still an issue.

Apart from what was said - do not - ever - touch someone on the head, there are a few things you should know.
You WON'T get arrested for not wearing shirts, but it is still NOT nice. Thai people have high regards for good manners and respect. So....
- don't walk around topless or with just a singlet. T-shirt at a minimum.
- don't point with your feet
- if you visiting temples or government places, wear long pants and sleeve shirt
- don't be impatient.
- don't - DO NOT ever say anything derogatory about the king or the royal family!!! This one - you could be jailed for!
But generally - Thai people are used to foreign tourist and will tolerate some behaviour. You don't need to get too paranoid about what NOT to do. As long as you show good manners, you will be fine. Just need to keep in mind that you are in Thailand - so don't expect things to operate the same as in your country. If you do - as some tourist seem to - then why bother go there?
Hope this helps

I usually tell people that if they don't get into trouble at home, it is unlikely they will here - - you have lots of good advice above - -
Why would you want to walk around without a shirt on anywhere other than the beach... Do you go out to the mall or a restaurant in your town without a shirt on? I guess you can do that here, but other than the beach, you will just look to the Thais and most people really as being low class - and not only in a financial regard. So, keep the shirt on - do us all a favor.. Enjoy your trip - you will love it here - and if you see lots of Thai people walking around the streets with no shirts on, then go ahead - - no, you won't find that - -

If a coin or a bill falls down, NEVER touch it with your foot to stop it from rolling away/beeing blown away. You would touch the picture of the king with your foot! A insult to the king!

As all the others have said and don't disparage either monks, budhism or the King and you'll be OK. They really are very tolerant people if you remember what everyone has said.

Don't say anything bad about the King. Les Majure (the kings right).
Dress respectfully if you go to a Wat (temple). Thai people usually dress very conservatively.
Stay away from drugs...That can get you a long prison term.
Try not to get angry even if you are.
Really just act normal and you'll be fine. Try to respect their customs.
