I've been diagnosed w/ and am being treated for clinical depression. I have a hard time getting up in the morning. I just lie in bed awake and have very low energy and feel emotionally very low. It's even interfering w/ my ability to be on time for morning appointments. I know this is a symptom of the depression, but, while I'm still treating that, any tips from those of you who have dealt w/ this?

I suffer from pretty extreme depression myself, and honestly about the only thing that makes me get up and go to work is knowing that I HAVE to. If you are being treated and have been placed on meds, some of that stuff will start to change soon. You really just have to force yourself to get up unfortunately until the medication starts to work. I've been in a funk for the last 9 months and my meds are finally starting to kick in so I promise, it will get better!

Yes! that's a great question. My doctor put me on all kinds of crazy drugs (zoloft, ambien to sleep, temazepam, etc) If you are currently taking any anti-depressants, drinking, or anything such as that, I would recommend talking to your doctor and explore your options to perhaps use a lower dose or even use a different treatment method. Certain drugs cause drowsiness, or make you feel as though you would like to close your eyes and relax and never get up.

What gets me going is either work or when I'm off, I think of something fun to do to get me out of the house.
