I'm considering purchasing a vehicle that has a salvaged title. Will I have any problems registering this in Mexico?

What about a vehicle with no title/temporary title? I also came across a great car that has a temporary title- the guy said he's been trying to get the original from the woman he purchased the car from, but that she has not returned his calls. He has a temporary title he got from the dmv. How does this work? Do I go in and apply for a temporary title in my name? Will I have any problems registering this in Mexico?

Just to be clear- I do not need to register the car in the states. I will be registering the vehicle in Mexico to keep at my local residence there.

I'm just interested if I will have issues registering a car IN MEXICO with a salvaged title / temporary title.

Regarding the temporary title- what he has is actually documentation that shows he's filed for lost title with papers from the dmv that allow him to insure, register, etc. I believe the car would require the 2 year wait to see if anyone comes forward to challenge this.

A salvaged title on a car. You will not get collision insurance. You could only get liability and bodily injury insurance.
As far as a temp. title don`t even go there. Way to much trouble then they are worth. You could register a baby stroller in Mexico.

A salvage title is never a good idea. It's almost impossible to get insurance on them. And since vehicles are sold by title, if the seller doesn't have one, he can't sell it. There is no such thing as a temporary title.

But call the DMV if you want and ask. Maybe you will believe them.

you will have problems with any car that does not have a clean title. a salvage title means the car has been recked and totaled out. so i hope you are getting one hell of a deal. because it may not be safe to drive. a temp title, well you may never be able to get it in your name. trust me, go for a car with a clean title.

MOST INSURANCE COMPANIES WILL NOT INSURE THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE OF LIABILITY TO THEM.

IF THEY DO INSURE IT FOR YOU THE RATES WILL BE HIGHER AND THE VEHICLE WILL HAVE TO BE FULLY INSPECTED.

IF YOU BUY ONE OF THESE VEHICLES FOR $10,000 AND YOU ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE VEHICLE IS TOTALED, THE INSURANCE COMPANY MIGHT GIVE YOU 1/3 OF WHAT THE VEHICLE IS ACTUALLY WORTH.

EVERYONE THAT BUYS ONE OF THESE VEHICLES WILL END UP PISSED OFF OR IN THE POOR HOUSE.

VERY BAD TO BUY NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE PRICE MIGHT BE.

ALSO YOU CANNOT GET ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THESE VEHICLES AS WELL.
