It really depends on your own lifestyle. An Alaskan cruise is like any other cruise in that you will dine very well every day, be able to dance at your choice of 2 or 3 locations on board. The on-shore excursions are more suitable for an "outdoorsy" couple as they include a lot of walking and some rugged excursions. It is truly not a romantic cruise unless you two are campers and hikers. A cruise down Mexican riviera is far more romantic as you enjoy warm ocean breezes and the shore excursions are more leisurely. Ireland is more of a place to shop, walk, and DRINK and sing in pubs. They don't offer as many luxury honeymoon-type of hotels, offer more bed and breakfast with walking tours. again - if you two are outdoorsy and want to spend your honeymoon talking to happy people and attending group types of pub nights, then you'd enjoy it. We've cruised to Alaska and to Mexico and others. And we've "done" Europe. Most romantic place - Maui. Second best , Paris. Third, Mexican cruise with a outside verandah suite so we could sip champagne in the moonlight.

We went to Austria for a week and did a week long cruise in the Greek islands -
What we liked was that we did some sight seeing (lots of walking) touring- shopping and then we relaxed on the cruise. The Greek islands were phenomenal!! There was night life and calm beaches and the most amazing scenery ever.
It sounds like you have the same flavor in your planned honeymoon... there is lots to see and do in Ireland and a cruise would be a good idea.

We went to Greece on our honeymoon, which was beautiful and perfect. The weather was gorgeous, the food wonderful and the people so nice. We had such a good time and it was the perfect combination--we did beaches and saw sites too.
Pick someplace you'd like to go and that fits both of you. The important thing is that you two are someplace you both want to be in with each other and are enjoying yourselves.

We are going to the Carribean. Also on a cruise.
I've heard that cruises are a great idea because it gives you the time to bond, a relaxed way to travel, and not having to rush from place to place trying to squeeze in every tourist trap.

We went on a cruise, and it was wonderful. Leisurely, entertaining, fun, relaxing. We would do it all over again.
