NO, there are not any problems with the PS3 or it's hardware. The PS3 has a hardware failure rate less than 1%.
I've had my 60GB PS3 since early January this year and I haven't had any problems at all. The PS3 runs quietly, and the fan almost never runs very fast, but it does run fast at certain times.
The PS3 was built to last until the next Sony console and wont let you down like Xbox 360's.

the ps3 has just as many problems as the 360 and wii. people who are complaining probably did something to their ps3's that their not telling us about or just plain old lying. i have a 20 gig and i worked fine ever since i got it

there were never really any problems to begin with.... dont believe everything you read on the net..... trust me they even bash the games on ps3..... like lair they gave that game such a bad review bud i have it and its actually pretty good same for heavenly sword.....
i have all 3 systems and my 360 broke down on me 3 times my wii is fun but i cant really play it for an extended period of time cuz it gets kinda boring..... they're all good systems but the ps3 just satisfies me the most.... but thats just me....

i got the ps3 the first day it came out, and i have to tell you, Worth every last effort wating for it when i got it. I have no problems, and i had the launch console.....

There were no problems with it in the first place there is the 0.2% issue rate well below the acceptable issue rate for electronics which is 5%.

I have had my running almost 24 hours a day since I got it in feb (games and folding@home). No problems yet.
