They're talking about Massachusetts.
and it hasn't even been passed yet. some "nurse" who even admitted to spanking her own children wants her state to be the first state in the us to ban spanking even in the home. there was a vote on the Internet and the anti spankers didn't even put a dent in it. it's not going to be passed. there were like over a thousand votes for spanking and there were like around 30 saying they agree with the banning when i voted.
This is the US. Anti spankers won't put a dent in anything.
It's still fully legal where I live. =]
And people can't do anything to you unless there is proof you do something. any child mad at their parent for taking away their barney toy can call cps and say they are abused. but without proof, nothing can be done. and most people don't abuse their kids or even leave marks, so everything is fine. but as of now and probably for ever it will still be legal, because so many people in this country believe in spanking.

I am a father of five wonderful boys all of which have been spanked on occasion in addition to using physical exercise, grounding and taking away privileges. I believe no one method works all the time or better than the other. Depending on the age, offense and other factors, different methods should be used. How ever the best advice is to just be involved with your children and what they are doing. Just being there for them will prevent you from having to discipline them as much.

Probably not a bad idea, but how could the law be enforced? Spanking doesn't leave evidence, so there would be no proof the spanking occurred in most cases.

WHAT, I have'nt heard that yet and I dont see anything
wrong with A tap on the butt or on the hand when needed, I
just think there are alot of people out there that get carried
away with how much force they use in spanking.

I have not heard any thing about spanking being illegal. We spank, but we rarely need to. Our girls are pretty well behaved, and I think it is due to catching misbehavior early.

That's bull. It's not. It's called discipline - not abuse. Abuse is beating your kids - a pop or two on the bottom because your child is not listening after 3 or 4 warnings and time outs is not abuse - it's discipline and it's not traumatic to them as the left wing anti spanking movement and pop phsycology would have you believe. It's called caring about your children enough to give them consequences for their actions so taht they grow up to be responsible, respectful adults and don't end up in prison or pregnant at 13 or in trouble all of the time like the kids with no discipline end up. It's called taking responsibility as a parent to care enough about your children and loving them enough to discipline them because you care enough about them to care about the kind of person that they are going to grow up to be. I don't quite believe that it's illegal in the US, I've never heard that before.

this is ridiculous,..... the government has over stepped thier boundries. as long as the spanking does become abuse ( excessive adn for no reason and or brutal beating ) i dont think the governemtn should tell anyone how to disipline thier child.

As i have been told...as long as the spanking does NOT leave welts...then it is not considered abuse.
So you can spanking your child as long as it doesn't leave more than a temporary red mark
And i spank my kids

No, it is NOT illegal but Massachusetts is trying to make it illegal, which I think is a bunch of bull. We have enough juvenile delinquents because parents are already afraid of disciplining their kids.

Given the plethora of abuse, and parents who do not understand the difference, I'm all for it. A 2 year old girl was beaten to death by her mother and stepfather...with leather straps and she had three skull fractures, among many other injuries. So yes, I think it's great.
