I tried this with my cell phone after a quick dunk underwater at the pool:
Turn the screen side face down on a surface, plug into charger for about 3 days. The ipod may get hot which might help dry up any droplets inside.

The same thing happened to me! What I did was plug it in to the computer and then i had to restore it. It should work after that...if not try getting more water out of it and try again.

Dont panic. Plug your ipod into the computer and see if it will run plugged in. if it does, charge it for four hours. if this doest work, go to www.apple.com and contact them and tell them. Its also helpful if you have a warantee! ****
