Is it good ...the 40gb.I know it does not play the ps2 discs.

yes it is awersome i have the 40gb ps3 and it is amazing it dosent matter about ps2 games because you bought your ps3 for playing ps3 games not ps2 games
some games i can reccomend getting
1. Turok when it comes out
2. fall of man
3. gta4
4. Killzone 2 when it comes out

Yes, the 40GB PS3 is still a good console. It has the built in WiFi, but it just has 2 USB ports, it doesn't have the flash card slots, and it can't play PS2 games.
The 40GB PS3 is a very good option for people that just want to buy a PS3 just for PS3 gaming, the 60GB, and 80GB PS3's were more multimedia and PS3 gaming consoles.

I made sure my PS3 could play PS2 games but i only ever played a PS2 game once.
I got a PS3 to play PS3 games and Blu-ray movies.
The 40GB is a good system, cheapest Blu-ray player around.

dont listen to these people the 40gb DOES play ps2 games theres just a couple of games that when played on the 40gb ps3 have some glitches....
thats why its called limited backwards compatibility.... same for 80gb version....
the ps3 is great i have all 3 systems but im most satisfied with my ps3..... they're all good systems but my 360 broke down on me 3 times..... and i only play my wii sometimes cuz it kinda gets boring at times...... but thats just me...

It has two advantages:
1). It uses new, more efficient cooling system.
2). It's CPU was made on newer 65nm technology - power consumption reduced.

the 40gb does NOT play ps2 games, but the 60gb does as my sons have got one.

Great system, i love it, i had the launch console, very reliable, and no problems.
