As far as "Joliet Jake" and "Elwood", Dan is a marginal harp player and John was a mediocre singer. However, the blues brothers band was full of awesome musicians with stellar credentials (Matt Murphy, Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn, etc.). Additionally, the two Blues Brothers movies brought recognition and dollars to a lot of seminal American musicians that wouldn't have received either otherwise. Without the Blues Brothers John Lee Hooker, Cab Calloway, Sam & Dave, and others would be known to far fewer people. Even Aretha had slipped from public consciousness. Without Ray Charles in the Blues Brothers movie, there would have been no "Ray" for Jamie Foxx to star in.

Yeah Corrosion, where the &*^$ have you been? ;)
