Check out your local library and/or I think your City Hall may have listings of places that need volunteers posted on the wall, if not ask someone in there where the listing is. Depending on how old you are, you might even be able to go to a university or college that you may in interested in attending and let them know that you are thinking about attending their school when you graduate and that you want to start getting involved with the school now in a positive way, in any way possible. (Go to the front desk or call and ask where there volunteer services department is). Volunteering department has a list or will let you know what they have up coming to choose from. Then they will give you a sheet you complete and get signed each time you go to the volunteer activity. You can use that to fulfill your christian school obligation and you can all have a nice record going if you do in fact decide to attend the university/college.

It's a win win situation. Plus, volunteering does feel good, at least to me it does!

VolunteerMatch (http://www.volunteermatch.org), Idealist (http://www.idealist.org) and CraigsList (http://www.craigslist.com) all list volunteering opportunities with thousands of organizations. These are great place to look for volunteering opportunities.

When making your inquiries, ask the organization you want to volunteer with if the three of you can volunteer at the same time. You will need to be able to say what your availability is -- what time of day you are available, and what days. The more flexible you are with your schedule, the more likely you will find an opportunity you can all do together.

Finding a group volunteering opportunity can be more difficult than finding opportunities to do individually, so be prepared to make lots of inquiries and to be persistent.
