Nascar isn't the only racing series that turns left. Nascar has become popular due to the spectacle of the events and popularity of the drivers. The tailgating, prerace parties, souvenir trailers, sponsor displays, autograph sessions, etc really make it an event. The quality of the races themselves varies depending on your tastes and the type of track. Short tracks tend to have more beating and banging. But as the tracks get bigger that tends to decline due to the higher speeds. Some races just turn into snoozers because of a dominate car/driver. But blowouts and boring events happen in ever sport. Nascar always has the debris caution to bunch things up if needed too. Personally I feel if you want to see a race without all the frills then go to your local short track. You'll save hundreds of bucks, avoid a 2 hour traffic jam, maybe get the chance to see a future racing star and see some very close competitive racing. If it's a dirt track then that makes it even better.

Because, like Hockey, It's a high speed full contact sport.
TV doesn't do racing any justice. You simply have to be there. What looks like car's driving around in circles on TV is this: Guy's with there fit to the floor doing 200 miles per hour with a guy behind him, a guy in front of him and one next to him and sometimes on both sides and all those guys have there foot to the floor too! It's like holy crap and there's no time out's either.
You have to know how to watch a race. Like knowing who's good this week, follow strategies during the race, badluck, good luck, etc. etc. just like any other sport.
800 horespower american V8's wide open sounds pretty good too.
I dismiss everyone's turning left notion. Drag racing is a straight line and nobody bothers with that.(better not) Baseball player's run to the left in a circle.
Basketball players run to the left and put the ball in the hoop. Then the other team runs to the right and does the same thing back and forth for a couple hours. That's another reason why Nascar appeals to me is because every week there at a completely different type of track that presents unique challenges and speed's. Every other sport, except for Golf, is played on the same 'Grid' just in different stadium's.
HEY, that reminds me. Did you know the NBA was originally played on 'shag carpeting'.......then, one day, somebody pulled up the corner and dicovered beautiful hardwood floors underneath!!!

There is just so much more to it than going in circles. During the entire time of the race, there is always something going on. Grudge matches, racing for position in points, or just to win- there is always hard competition going on all around the track. The pit stops are part of the competition as well, One little mistake, and the entire outcome of not only the race, but the championship competition can change drastically, as we saw in the Championship Chase this year. The mechanical knowhow of the individual crew chiefs is also important. A missed set up can spell disaster for an otherwise good team.
The sights, sounds, and smells never leave your memory once you have attended a live event. The sensation of speed is exhilarating. It is an addiction.
It's one of those things that you either get it or you don't. It isn't baseball, football, golf, or bowling, but it is a highly competitive sport.

I used to feel the exact same way. If you really want to know what NASCAR is about, you need to go watch a race in person. The atmosphere is electric.
Nobody puts on a better show and party for three days than a NASCAR event. There really is nothing like it.
I thought it was just a bunch of moonshined up REDNECKS turning left all day long until I went and watched a race in person. Then I was hooked.

What's the appeal of baseball? Why do people care for baseball? It's just one big spectacle of hurry up and wait. Wait for the batter, wait for the ump and wait for the pitcher to warm up. We obviously have different ideas of what is fun to watch. I'm not going to ever get the appeal of baseball and you will never be a NASCAR fan but I'm OK with that. However, I don't have to go to the baseball forum to belittle it's fans or suggest that they are wasting their time. You are ignorant to all that happens during a race and there is no use in trying to explain it to you.

the interest of nascar developed from moonshine runners and their quick vehicles getting jointly on a airborne dirt and mud container to ensure who had the fastest vehicle and on the time it changed into for bragging rights. for sure a pair individuals observed this and realized that there changed into funds to be made and Nascar has change into what it truly is in the present day. The attraction of the interest is gazing human beings race at over one hundred and fifty mph with decrease than an inch seperating them from the subsequent individual and not in any respect wrecking themselves or the guy they're racing beside, that takes means and skill to attend to to target this. with regard to F1, Indy, etc...it will be argued that they go round in circles to boot. A circuit is only a lovable be conscious for circle isnt it? definite they do ought to reveal left and top extra oftentimes than no longer, even if they're nonetheless getting into a circle.

I use to think the same thing. But it's so much more than just the race itself. It's more like a soap opera. You get to know the drivers, their attitudes, their families, the owners, the crews & crew chiefs, who will drive nasty, who won't, who has a personality, who doesn't, can the crew make the right adjustments during the race, will nascar make fictitous cautions, will they make up the rules as they go along, will the rookie do well, etc.....

NASCAR is really exciting especially when your there in person for the races. There are crashes , the smell of the burnt rubber, rooting for your favorite driver, when the cars are passing , who's in the lead. Like me I'm friend of the driver David Reutimann, so it is really exciting to watch the races if you know someone. It is not just left turns, there is point standings and championships.Plus, really exciting when you get to meet your favorite drivers and get autographs.

You do really have to go to a race to appreciate it, but even then if you do not get a headset you still won't get the full feeling because you will not hear any comments during the race. I think it is the competition, watching the excitement of the crowd. My neighbors all know it is Sunday when they hear screams coming from my living room window. My daughter tells her friends, "don't worry, that is just my mom watching racing."

It use to be a great series and was a well run series also. They had some real interesting drivers and they raced with there heart.
Today it is ran so poorly that it has become a whats the new rule this week series. The drivers have become corporate faces and there are a bunch of newbie fans that don't have a clue what the heck they are watching.
The old fans know that it is a big joke but the love racing and can't help but to watch. I think they might be like me and just prey that someone comes to there senses and gets this series back to what it once was.
