How long is the food shelf stable? Since it is processed, what is added/how is it stored to make it last longer than the fresh form of the food? Please provide sources if you can. Thank you so much!!!

cream cheese is made with pasteurized milk (kills bacteria), salted, cultured (producing a slightly acidic product) and possible preservatives added (discourages bacterial growth) and refrigerated (which also discourages bacterial growth).

Also, some form of thickener is added to keep the liquid from separating out.

I have some in my fridge that has 6 months on the sell by date. So it has a long shelf life. So I always stock up when it's on sale. Love the stuff!

In my experience, it's good til it turn fuzzy.. If properly stored, the shelf life is 1.25 on the box.
