i would also buy from a reputable dealer. try b and h photo. they are really good.

i bought the non is version of the 70-200 and decided to exchange it..they did so w/o a problem!

i have 2 is lenses and would trade them for anything.

Another place to get previously owned lenses would be Fred Miranda...http://www.fredmiranda.com/

And if you haven't heard of it, suggest you pay a visit to http://www.dpreview.com for a good forum specific to photography.
