3. Functional examination of organs by measurement of the chemical components of fluids such as blood, urine, spinal fluid, etc. - to measure such things as kidney function, liver function, endocrine organ function, etc.
4. Biopsy of the organ for microscopic examination

The "organ" that completes digestion is the intestinal tract from the stomach though the small intestine. The colon or large intestine primarily absorbs fluid/water.

Auscultation, palpation and percussion. the small intestine absorbs the nutrients as the large bowel absorbs mainly water.
