When asking girls what kind of music they listen to, why do they always say everything?

I said that once and a guy called me out on it. He gave me a CD of slightly eccentric music and let's just say, I certainly don't like everything! I suppose I just say "everything" because it's the easiest answer to give without revealing what you really like. Music is a pretty personal thing, whether we admit it or not and so, we certainly don't want people to judge what we listen to. We just want others to also enjoy the tunes that are near and dear to our hearts.

i say everything because i can listen to everything. the only music that I generally don't listen to all the time, but can listen to if i'm in someone elses car is heavy metal.
maybe we know that guys are supposed to know what station to put it on j/k

Well it could be because they either don't know what kind of music you like and don't want to look bad by saying they like something else. Or its just cuz they actually like everything.

because they don't want you to judge them on the music they listen to and they will ask you what music you listen to and they will say the same

It's just the ones you deal with. They're saying what they think you want to hear or they're not sure what type of music you like so they're going to go with. . . everything.

cuz we like almost everything, we get into different moods all the time, so the tybe of music we listen to changes from time to time depending on our moods :)

they don't want you to make fun of them because they listen to their little girly music or something they know you don't like. that's the only reason..

most females (I said most) are not as deep when it comes to music...the tradition of songwriting went towards men because one can write songs to woo women...so many songs are about women the way men see them: will.i.am, ludacris, etc...there aren't a lot of songs about men or women the way women see men or women...and a lot of songs that women write about men are bashing...that's why men tend to be more musical...guitar-playing is mostly associated with men as well right? so specifically rich musical genres are associated with men (blues/soul/rock/rap/etc.)
