For instance, people just go out of their way and make religion their whole life, sure they can do it since it's their choice, but for religion to restrict your whole way of life is just unfair, especially if you're having that belief pushed onto you by overbearing parents.

Isn't religion supposed to enhance your life? In the case of a few of my friends, their parents won't let them hang around with boys, they have to be afraid of making any kind of mistake because their parents will punish them, and one of them is 21! The parents are religious, but they are just so overbearing. What do you think?

Religion should influence your life, but not control it military style.

Now i do think religion should guide ur whole life but what those parents are doing is crazy
i am religious and have lots of girls as friends
i mean I'm not going to Fu(k them every sec i get to
the bible has a lot of good lessons to teach but some people elaborate on it
if i had a daughter i would let her hang around boys but not to late like 1-2 in the morning and i would also teach her right and wrong contact around boy
and i would trust them because i know i taught them right

the Christian bible is symbolic as a set of battle gear to protect yourself against the forces of satan. If you're about to go to battle and someone offers you equipment to defend yourself, do you take the armor and leave the sword?
It'd make you lighter, but you won't last long.

Most people today aren't even aware what satanism is because they haven't bothered to look at the bible - you yourself have just promoted the number 1 rule of Satanism without realising:
1.Isn't religion supposed to enhance your life?
No, the Christian faith is about servitude to God. Satan makes everything about you, offering the easy way out.

Quote: "In the case of a few of my friends, their parents won't let them hang around with boys, they have to be afraid of making any kind of mistake because their parents will punish them, and one of them is 21! The parents are religious, but they are just so overbearing. What do you think?"

What faith are these people? There's nothing in the new testament about not hanging around with boys. Situations like these are usually a result of societies paranoia than a religious matter, perhaps they use the bible to justify it but nothing like this appears in the bible.

Yes Yes and Yes.

When religion becomes the only source of insight for a particular person, I think it borders on radicalism. Look at radical Islam, where religion is considered the major part of government, society, and culture. Look at evangelical Christianity -- even though they have more outlets than radical Islamics, you see defensive arguments against evolution.

Religion keeps people from looking outside the box. Politics can do the same. Both areas have an incentive to direct the people who adhere to those views. And both are a great source of evil in the world.

Chelsea,
I also believe that is taking things too far. My children have made their own choices and are much happier as a result. Our son is 22 and has decided that he is not yet ready to become a Christian. Our two daughters are both Christians (also by choice). We have never placed great restrictions on them beyond what a normal caring parent would. They all care for others as much as we do and we are very proud of them for that. Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

It needs to be taken seriously because it is so easily corrupted. There are so many gullible people out there who can be moulded to twisted versions of any faith.
Any true faith is extremely personal and is something between the holder and his or her god. Unfortunately, humans have an in-built herding instinct and have to shout their good news to others. And when you get a gang forming, a leader steps forward who will interpret the faith in his own way. This then becomes the LAW.
I say KEEP YOUR FAITH PRIVATE and don't bother or bore others with it.

The basic moral code set in main religions beliefs are there for a reason , Jesus said that love of God is that you obey his commandments, and yet his commandments are not burdensome. In what way does it restrict your life? God would never look to deprive his creation of hapiness. While some ways of living appear to be restrictive , they work to make your life simple.

I think religion is taken seriously. Christians parents believe that the kids should have something to believe in,and are raised that way. When you are 18 you are concerned an adult. You can make your own choice.

My religion is a big part of my life, but that's because I make it that way. I agree with you that it's unfair when parents force their religion onto their kids.

If someone restricts themselves by following a religion, that's their choice, and it's them who suffers. When it's forced onto someone against their will, that's manipulation.

Religion yes, GOD NO

But remember the mark of the Beast, the number of the Besat and the name of the beast.

You would not be able to buy or sell.

This has been going on now for along time.

I think you are very right Chelsea. And it's not often a United fan like me agrees with a Chelsea person.

Religion should be an option, not a law.

I can't tell whether Francine Fireball Fusion is joking or not.

Maybe she will email me (?)
