Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if you all could lend me a few pointers on my essay on child abuse. I need help starting my paper, my points I should use and also help with the conclusion. I know that sounds like the whole paper but if I could just get a little feedback from any and everyone that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance to anyone who offers advice, info or even just a comment!!!!

Have A Great Holiday Season Everyone!!!!

Thanks
Keith in Huntsville, TX

It depends on what type of paper you are trying to write. If this is an informative essay then I would suggest writing about signs of a child abuser, the things that go through their minds, and possibly even you can interview someone who was in an abusive relationship or had an abusive childhood.

Start the first paragraph with an example (make up a character) like:

8-year-old Peter huddled under his bed crying because...

Then go on to explain the statistics of child abuse in the world and the degrees and punishments for the crime etc.. End with somthin' like:
Today Peter is happy in his new home and it is his father's turn to huddle in a prison cell...

Make it into a story. That's what I do to make my reasearch papers more interesting =) gl and Happy Holidays to you too!

You need to frame what type of paper this is - a persuasive or factual essay. I would outline the types of child abuse that are committed and get some solid statistics, and also get some credible resources to site from. Hope this helps

Child abuse is a big concern. My friends dad is a child abuser so he moved. I would just talk about what they do and what the punishment could be.

Hi there

I'm a child protection officer in the UK. I hope I can help.

You have two areas

Child abuse

and

Bad parenting practise.

Child abuse is a deliberate act to inflict harm or to place a child in harms way.

Bad parenting practise involves using practises that you are unaware are not in the best interest of the child.

Child abuse falls in to different categories; sexual, physical, neglect, abandonment, emotional, mental etc... Child abuse in any shape or form is unacceptable.

Bad parenting practise may be along the lines of swearing at your child. While it is not abuse it is unacceptable and is a parenting practise which should be stopped. Leaving your child with different people everytime you go out. Again it's not abuse but it's also probably not very wise. Letting your young children stay out late at night, not abuse but a practise that should cease for their own safety.

It takes a very rational mind to distinguish between bad parenting practise and child abuse.

Unfortunately in the majority of cases of sexual abuse the perpetrator is someone whom the child previously trusted. Sexual predators of children are particularly, devious and cunning in their ability to silence the child/children they abuse mostly using emotional blackmail such as threat against the childs parents.

Mentally and emotional abusing a child can come in all sorts of forms from, taunting by children their own age to a parent telling them they are a useless piece of SH!T!

Obviously physical abuse is determined by physical harm caused to the child. Punching, kicking, hitting, biting, burning, cutting etc.....

Neglect in the UK defined by the NSPCC (National Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Children)
Failure to provide a child's basic needs (eg food, warm clothing etc...); leaving children alone or unsupervised; failure to provide love or affection.

Abandonment pretty much speaks for itself.

The main thing that every parent should remember is that when they choose to bring a life into this world they have a duty of care to that child.

Every child deserves to be loved and cared for without fear of harm in any abusive form whatsoever.

You can quote me on that!

it depends on what type of paper it is; a report, analysis, opinion and so forth. read someone's story about child abuse and i'm pretty sure you'll get inspired and it'll just come to you.
