feeling like it was moving forward then backward slightly to the right or left quickly enough to make you feel strange like you were going to lose your balance?
I can't figure out if this is a vision problem, a heart problem, or if I should look for a gas leak in the house. What do you think?

yes dizziness could possibly be a sign of dehydration (you can also tell by pulling on your skin and see how quickly it the skin returns to normal), but I'm not dehydrated.

I know it's not vertigo; I know what vertigo feels like.

no fever. It's not hunger, or fever, couldn't be a viral illness

the reason I wondered if it was a gas leak of sorts is because last month my pet was sick and didn't want to eat.

Could be a whole host of reasons for dizziness - dehydration, hunger, fever, viral illness, standing up too fast, and so on. It may be a problem with the inner ear (see the link on labyrinthitis) but as the only symptom you are having, then I would suggest that you contact your doctor and ask them to do some tests to identify the cause. Usually if there is a gas leak in the house, then you would smell it as natural gas is given a smell for that purpose. Carbon monoxide is odorless and can cause dizziness but if you think that is the problem then you need to get out of the area and into fresh air straight away - it can kill in a very short period of time. You should be able to get products to detect carbon monoxide at hardware stores or you may be able to ask a gas appliance fitter to check for fumes.

It could be a lot of different things. How long have you had this sensation? Is it consistent, or does it come and go? Do you only have it when you're in your house? Or only when you're standing?

It could be any one of the things you've listed, as well as many others, including vertigo (which I can promise you is no fun).

If it doesn't go away, you should most definitely see a doctor.

I went through this when my little one was 2. I was always so busy running around and doing activities with her and running errands and I went to the doctor and he said it's lack of fluids. Or dehydration I guess it would be called. You need to drink more water. That's what he told me.
