I feel like it is more common now to be Atheist in younger generations, although that could be people are less fearful of expressing their beliefs now than many years ago. What do you think? Is there any sort of data on this subject as to what percent of the world is Atheist today as opposed to thousands of years ago?

I am talking in terms of percentage of the entire population, not an actual #. The US population statistics would be interesting too, to see if they differ from the rest of the world

Anyone know where I could find this information out? I am very curious to the actual data. Do you think a study like this has been conducted?

No.
There were more "atheists" back before people started teaching religious krap to each other.
Everyone is born an atheist.
I think it is more common now to find out that people don't believe in any gods because it is more acceptable for them to have that opinion and express it. It is more acceptable because the punishments for having or expressing those opinions aren't as harsh, also because there ARE more people who share the opinion.

Yes, the tide is turning.

If it wasn't, it would be LESS acceptable to have and express these opinions rather than MORE.

No. At some point, there were probably all atheists. Like say 10,000 years ago. But then the population might have been small enough, that there are more today, just a smaller percentage.

Hmm, asking if there are more atheists today than thousands (more than 2000) of years ago implies that somehow Christianity drove people to atheism. Make you wonder.

I feel since we are not being prosecuted and murdered for our beliefs anymore. At least inmost countries. That we can decide on our own without fear.
