My high school's Youth Commission Club is looking to donate some of our money to a charity. Any suggestions? I think we'd like to donate it to something youth/teenage-oriented. The town's Youth Commission (a bit different than the club but close enough) statement is "The Youth Commission acts as a catalyst to promote wellness and a healthy environment for all the town's Youth through the formation of community-wide partnerships." I believe we're open to both state (Massachusetts) and national charities.

I second the recommendation of the previous poster, both to donate to HeadStart and for members of the Youth Commission to volunteer themselves at youth-focused organizations so they can truly be the "catalysts" they are supposed to be.

Other youth/teen-oriented programs are scouting (Girls Scouts of the USA and Boy Scouts of America), Big Brothers/Big Sisters and programs focused on children with disabilities.

Head Start is a wonderful place to give. Also, check with your local library. And remember to give of your time as well. There is always a need.
