Horus was born to a virgin (who remains eternally virginal), Isis-Meri, on December 25 in a cave or a manger.

In Egypt? Who knows. I don't think that's where most of you are focused. According to Christian Mythology, Jesus was born in Bethlehem (which is located in the Judaean Hills 5 miles (8 kilometers) south of Jerusalem in the Israeli-occupied West Bank) just over 2,000 years ago. So what's up with Egypt 5000 years ago? I have no idea.

No one I know. But I haven't studied many religions. Can't be Jesus. I've learned he was born in fall, and I don't think it was 5000 years ago.
And to whoever wrote you have to have a wife to have a son:
Many people have sons or daughters without having wives or husbands. One does not necessarily go with the other.
Maybe in a modern day translation of the story, Mary should be refered to as God's baby momma?

I cannot believe that people automatically assumed Lord Christ was the answer.
5000 years ago huh -- that puts it before Horus... hmmm.... well -- actually, according to some experts -- it would have been 5000 years ago -- some think that the myth set is older than was traditionally thought.
That is my guess, you are referring to Horus.
According to myth, the birth of Horus was announced by three Wise Men, symbolized by three stars in Orion's Belt pointing to Osiris' star in the east. Angels proclaimed his arrival as a god-man. His birth was often depicted in pictures as being in a manger, with Isis as the Madonna standing over him, and was said to have occurred on the Winter Solstice.
am I right? If I am do I get a cookie?
Kind thoughts,
Reyn

It wasn't Jesus, because He wasn't born in winter.
And it wasn't Horus, because Isis wasn't a virgin, and he wasn't born in a manger either. He was the grandson of Ra (the creator, also known as Amen-Ra) and Nut, and the son of Osiris and Isis (also known as Isis-Hathor, which was the melding of Horus' mother and his wife/sister).
Anyone who says it IS Horus needs to read up on their Egyptian mythology.
So who was it?

horus was born (myth) 5000 years ago in eygpt, born of isis eternal virgin and he was born in a cave then mithras was born about 3000 years ago i don't know much about him again this is a myth and maybe older than we think then there was yeshua (jesus) born approximate 2000years in Israel a town called Bethlehem. he is the son of god and born of the virgin but he was not born at winter solstice as we adopted this from the pagans to celebrate birth and rebirth i.e yeshua's resurrection and also our baptisms in water our own rebirth. we also need to remember that we now use a different calander to what the jews use and therefore yeshua was born in spring or autumn. in which there is a lot of evidence to proof this was so look in the holy gospels of mathew, mark, luke and john.

It wasn't Horus if that is what you are implying. I have had it debunked by Khemetic practitioners......
Mithras was said to have been born at the Winter Solstice, but he was not Egyptian....
Dionysus has more similarities to Jesus as does Hercules.....

It was Horus. There is also Mithras just 1000 years before Jesus. Check out his story, its amazing how similar it is to the birth of Jesus story. Oh by the way, Emperor Constantine was Mithrian before he turned Christian.

Let's see...it wasn't Zoroaster because he was born of a virgin in Persia 2500 years ago...it wasn't Siddartha Gautamma (Buddah) because he was born of a virgin in China...it wasn't Jesus because he was born of a virgin 2000 years ago in Israel...and it wasn't Kin Tan because he was born of a virgin in India...so, it must be Tammuz. Lots of virgin births back then, huh?
