All wars are fought for economic and political reasons. Every single war in history has been about economics or gaining power.

American Revolution - they revolted because they were being overtaxed. Merchants and lawyers headed the propoganda for the revolt.

American Civil War - The South seceded because the North was changing its policies, which would lead to economic decline in the South. The North counterattacked because the government wanted a cut in the agriculture of the South.

World War I - This one was actually fought for political reasons, but the underlying cause for those politics was that the alliances entailed provided monetary or trade benefits.

World War II - Germany, Italy, and Japan attacked the Allied Powers to gain land and resources, so that they could recover from Depression.

First Gulf War - Kuwait was invaded by Iraq, because Iraq wanted its resources. The other countries got involved because they wanted Kuwait to be in their debt.

The Vietnam War - It was fought to stop the spread of Communism, which was a threat to the capitalist economy.

The Korean War - It was fought to discourage the spread of Communism, which was a threat to the capitalist economy.

These are just a few modern wars.

(Justification)
To prevent an extremist dictatorship from massing up WMD'S.

(Real Reason)
To ensure that the enemies of the United States invest the majority of their money and manpower in attacking the US on foreign soil instead of on our homefield.

Think about this:
If it wasn't for the US Military being in Iraq and Afghanistan... where would all the money and man power spent on IED's, ammunition, logistics and the training of terrorists go? It would go to fund attacks against, and inside US cities. Everyone discredits Bush because of this "war", nobody sees the genuis of it all, it's a buffer set in place to protect the people of the united states. Planes dont fall out of the sky monthly, dams aren't blown up monthly, our water isnt poisoned monthy, they cant afford to send more anthrax and all this is because their too busy depleting their funds and manpower trying to "win" and defeat the mighty US and the "zionist nation" (which I have no idea what that means) IN THEIR BACKYARD . Bottom line: You the civilian are safe because we your military are not, Bush knew then and knows now that: US Forces in the middle east was not only the best answer to tying up terrorist assets but it is the best possible solution for keping US casualties at a minimum. In 6 years we've just now lost double of the amount of people the terrorists killed in one organized attack in one day. Bush is doing an incredible job protecting our nation. Cut him some slack.

By the way... if Bush was to come out and say it like that on TV you could bet your best dollar that every terrorist in Iraq and afghanistan would pull their head out of their a$$ and immediatly leave their sector and then we'd HAVE to withdraw troops to protect our cities.

no liberal understands a threat of a grave nature like al qaeda. its too easy for someone like the pelosi/reid regime to grandstand and stunt for political favor on such a large target. conservatives, however understand the war IS BECAUSE OF AL QAEDA and the reason for this threat. thats why we have a bonafide defense to al qaeda, not like the one clinton offered by ignoring them for eight years. im glad your at least honest and imply you dont understand it. that way, at least youll consider keeping out of the way and allowing people who do to defend this country.

my sociology prof. told me that their is a tape of Pres. Bush saying if he ever became pres. he would go after the man that tried to kill his dad (saddam).

there is also more to the story, we didn't finish the job the first time around. I think there is more to the story than any of us realize. It just depends on how much we want to understand the situation.

Unfortunately, you'll hear only about WMD's in the liberal press.
