Hmmm.... I don't have any good advice, but I just wanted you to know that I'm turning 18 in about 3 months and I have no idea how to drive nor do I have my permit or license. I'm a little afraid of driving too, especially because I'm in an EMT class and they really drive it into your head that car crashes are common and often fatal.

I know how much it sucks to depend on people for rides, but it's okay. This isn't the end of the world. Just keep practicing your *** off and get people who are good drivers to help point out any problems you have and help you. Maybe you can take a defensive driving course?

Good luck!!! Please always wear your seatbelt and drive safely.

I didnt learn to drive til 18 and after i got my car my mom wouldn't let me drive it because she was afraid. I failed the test too, but you know something the second time I promised myself that i would study harder than ever and passit and I did. So my advice to you is study hard, get somebody to let u practice in a car, like an older brother, parents, a friend, whoever u trust and has a car. Believe the more u practice the better you'l be. Also dont fret because you're almost 18 and dont have a license, you'll have plenty of time to drive and believe you'll get sick of it and wish you had a chauffeur.
Good luck and study and practice. You'll be driving b-fore you know it.

Same here except I don't even have a permit! I got in a accident so that's why i'm afraid to drive, and also mostly because of other people on the road. We all gotta do it some day though so just relax and get it over with. Get your license even if you don't plan on driving a lot. That's what i'm going to do!

GOOD LUCK!

Drive as much as possible. It's the only way you'll get more comforatble with it. The test givers are never very nice so don't expect them to do anything to help you out. You just have to practice driving, and if there's like a set route they have you take, drive that over and over.

I paid for a driving instructor who was semi helpful. It gets you used to driving with someone you don't know and giving you directions, etc. Plus they usually know the test and can help you practice it. I'd look into that if I was you. Good luck.

Like most other things in life, its about practice. You need to get in the car enough that you start to feel comfortable. And take some (or more) driver's lessons. A teacher (who you pay) may be more helpful and calm than a parent or friend. The more experience, the better you'll get and the less afraid you'll be if you feel more in control. Practice, practice, practice!

I'm 16 and I'm scared to drive. I don't have my permit yet and I've only driven once. My parents want me to drive, I don't know when I will. They said I have to start driving before I go to college. I think you should practice. Pay close attention to other drivers. Good luck!

Until you get the driving thing right, take cabs or public transportation so you depend less on other people.
And maybe for you driving test find an instructor you're comfortable with so you're not nervous. About your fear of driving... see a psychologist.

I am sorry to hear that, but it will get better.. you just have to work on it. Practice, and drive safely. you dont have to drive like a maniac. and if it helps read over the book a couple times not just once. I nearly failed my test because i hadnt read the book very well. the book is there to help and instruct. Try and try again! you will get it! Good luck! : )

I didn't get mine until I was 24. The main reason was because I wanted to make sure that I could buy a car so I wouldn't have to borrow my mother's car.

I was so nervous when I took my test, I never actually finished parrallel parking! My instructor said I was taking too long but she passed me because I knew how to park.

So just relax and don't take it so seriously!!

It will be okay.
My sister-in-law didn't get her driver's license until she was 21. It makes her a better, more careful and more responsible driver.

Just because many or most people achieve something by a certain date, doesn't mean that it is the right time for everyone.
