I couldn't forgive that. I'm not that strong, I would like to see him punished by death.

I have a great amount of respect for people that can forgive. It doesn't mean that you agree with what happens, it means you have the ability to rise above it all and not have any hate inside you. But as said, I can't do that.

Forgiveness is not so much for the other person as it is for yourself.... so that you are not consumed by fear, hate, guilt...

It is a difficult article to read. Though I am comforted by the fact that God is almighty and that death is not an end. So, ultimately the baby is totally fine. The people left behind are more in need of thoughtful prayers than the baby now.

No, I would not. Why would I even try to forgive someone who murdered a baby by raping them to death?

Forgiving isn't even logical...1. I was not the one hurt..the murder victim was. Only someone harmed would be able to forgive. 2. I would find it a much more prudent course of action to make sure he payed for his crime.

It's easy to gush platitudes but only the victim has a right to forgive. In this case she was a defenceless child.
Other children must be protected from this monster.

Instances like this one and like Baby Grace in Galveston TX (a two year old who was tortured and killed by her mother and stepfather before being sealed in a plastic storage tub and dumped in Galveston Bay) really makes me wonder about those who say that God "has a plan" for things like this.

My personal belief is that the folks who did this have forfeited their own lives and should be put to death.

Nope, sorry but no way. I just could not forgive that. If that makes me a bad person, then so be it, but I can not forgive such an unhuman, vile, cold blooded act

What does forgiveness mean? To me it means this:
Someone took something away from me, life, health, people, money, whatever. Forgiveness is releasing my expectation that they will ever give it back, or their responsibility to give it back, especially if they can't. Murder is still wrong, and forgiveness does not justify their act. It is just releasing them from your need to have them fix something they either can't or won't fix, or both. Forgiveness lets us look to someone else to give us something that was taken from us.

I forgive but does not mean this person can go without punishment.
Not forgiving just means to carry hate against a person.

Yes, I could - but I'd still insist on severe punishment for the perp.
