1] take a mouthful of water every half hour, or a few ice chips every half hour. If it stays down for one hour, progress to
2] clear liquids - apple juice, plain tea, broth, jello. Take one sip every commercial. If it stays down for one hour, progress to
3] full liquids - soup, hot cereal, pudding, ice cream
AVOID:
spicy food
greasy food
fried or fatty food
over eating - just eat til about 75% full
If still can't keep anything down, go see a doc!

Even if you have a virus, you can try to eat if you're hungry. Saltines, dry toast, applesauce, bananas, and clear soups are bland and gentle on the stomach. Ginger ale might be a good beverage choice. If it doesn't pass in 24 hours, you should definitely go to the doctor - you'll start to get really dehydrated if you can't keep any liquids down.

It is safe to try the water again but drink SLOWLY and SIP it. Also, dry saltine crackers (nothing like Ritz crackers-no buttery crackers, and they need to be PLAIN crackers) and PLAIN toast are awesome. Just because you may be sick with "a bug" doesn't mean that you cannot eat. Give it a try again. If you continue puking call your doctor and see what they reccomend. If you do not have a normal doctor and have thrown up more after trying to eat again, you may want to visit the Emergency Room and explain to them that you keep throwing up (give # of times) and cannot keep food down.

Ipecac syrup is an actual medicine you can get that makes you vomit. It's usually used for kids (or people I guess) who ingest something toxic. You can also take caster oil (not Castrol oil, you aren't a car) and it will give you the squirts if that's a route you want to take. No one questions or tries to help you fix a lovely case of explosive diarrhea like they will vomiting. You don't get the "oh what did you eat?" Or "It sounds like a stomach bug". Pooh usually stops a conversation flat.

Poor baby... You need a nurse! I'll fill in. If you have some ginger root, shred about a teaspoonful and pour boiling water (a cup) over it. Add honey. Ginger tea settles the tummy. Peppermint tea does, too. Hope you feel better, soon. Definitely try to keep some kind of liquid in so you don't start barfing up your bile juices. That hurts..
I've used saltine crackers and ginger-ale, too.

Clear liquids like water, 7-up, jello, broth are tha best, but if you continue to vomit you may get dehydrated. If your are getting really thirsty and not urinating, you may need IV fluids.

Ginger ale and Saltine crackers are tried and true for me when I have a stomach bug. Make sure you drink enough fluids, it's really important! Hope you feel better :)

Whatever you introduce....do it slowly.....little sips of water,.....after being able to keep that down you need to do the BRAT diet....bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast!! It really works.
