Doctrine & Covenants 88: 67 And if your eye be single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprehendeth all things.
68 Therefore, sanctify yourselves that your minds become single to God, and the days will come that you shall see him; for he will unveil his face unto you, and it shall be in his own time, and in his own way, and according to his own will.

Yes I know it is not in the bible, so if you feel you can still answer, please do.

I know for me, the more I focus on the eternities, the less of a draw the things of the world have for me. It makes it easier to hold fast to those things which bring riches in heaven, such as family, faith, etc. And as we focus upon the Savior, evil can have no hold on our hearts, as evil cannot dwell in the light of Christ. As we seek to grow closer to Him, the promise is there of the Second Comforter -- having a moment during your prayers when the veil becomes so thin that one can see the Lord as he answers [like the Brother of Jared, seeing the finger of the Lord]. It is an amazing promise -- to know that each one of us can be a personal witness to the risen Lord and Savior. But it doesn't happen in a day or an hour -- but days, hours and even years spent focusing upon the Light of the World -- and then, we still have the choice to accept the responsibility and accountability that such a tremendous blessing brings.

btw - I also like D's response -- upon closer reflection, sanctify truly leaps out and challenges us to live our lives in such a manner.

Thanks for the verse -- Merry Christmas

So... to translate for those who don't like flowery KJV speach...

As I sanctify (make pure or sacred) myself, I will gradually allign my vision with God's and He will lead and teach me, and eventually (hopefully) I will be so filled with light and knowledge, I will be able to see Him...

WOW- that would be sooo cool!..

But, boy- do I have a ways to go!

It's scripture. It's true. I'm not there yet, but maybe one day I will.

Joe Smith was a Fortune teller and a liar, he was not a messenger of the Lord.

the thing is, that sort of stuff is in the Bible already, so why did Joe need to make up some other books?
