Im an ex-scientologist.
Probably Dianetics which is kindof the textbook of whats in the courses. You can often find a copy in your local library to check out.
If the course material is what interests you the most then you might want to check into FreeZone which is the scientology courses and material seperated from the Church of Scientology. It might save you some grief from oh-so-knowledgeable people who have no real experience with what its about. Not much, since most people still connect the together but maybe some.

Start with "Dianetics," then head on over to wikipedia and check out the entries on Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, etc.

Dianetics if you must read something.
I suggest reading Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein instead.

The ones which debunk it. Any potted history of L Ron Hubbard tends to do this by default.

If you're that bound and determined to give your money to a cult, join my cult. The belief-system is whatever you want it to be, and the rules are, you can do whatever you want to do, but in order to find salvation, you need to send me $1,000 dollars a month.
