Very best, add more insulation to the attic!
Then chaulk and weatherstrip around all windows and doors!
Those are not glamorous but very important in saving energy for heating and cooling.
Then use a set back thermostat to eliminate heating when you are not at home or sleeping.
Around the house, recycle paper. Don't buy note pads, turn envelopes inside out, the blank side of greeting cards, etc. Buy food stuff in bulk and store in reuseable containers..like jars. Refuse plastic grocery sacks, get reuseable string bags and take them to the store. Everytime you go to make a purchase ask yourself: do I really need this? Is there a green alternative? When you are finished with an item but there is still plenty of use left in it, give to to charity so someone else can use it.

For the final 3 years I even have been redesigning a house that grow to be outfitted in the previous due 1800's. conserving the old international craftsmanship grow to be in basic terms as important as seizing the prospect to create a greener domicile. a pair of "eco-friendly" issues that I did that made a immediately much less high priced distinction have been; a million) I further a small bathing room sized trash can decrease than my kitchen sink to assemble any cans, bottles, or different recyclables. whilst ever I take out the kitchen trash I take out the recyclables to their bin exterior. 2) replacing the lights you employ could make a large distinction. i offered a number of those new low wattage curly lights from Costco ( you will get them at any ironmongery save too). I replaced each and all of the lights in my domicile with those and function saved greater desirable than 0.5 on my electric powered bill for the 365 days. The lights value with reference to comparable to a popular incandescent easy. 3) Plant a coloration tree! i like wood, they may be romantic, they might fill a void in a huge section, they might accessory a small courtyard, and that they might upload a lot necessary coloration exterior a sunny window or room to help insulate from the sunlight. There are a number of wood that are proof against drought must you stay in a interior of sight that gets little rain. i'm hoping those 3 straight forward and much less high priced tips can help somebody, whether that is in basic terms evokes yet another thought or tip!

Well, unfrotunately there aren't too many inexpensive ways of making your house more environmentally friendly. However, adding plants, using those new flourescent lighbulbs, and making sure that you only use your heat when you need to. Making sure you are recycling as much as possible and using organic cleaners can also help. And getting water saving shower nozzles are another big step. After that you just need to make sure all of your appliances are energy star efficient and your windows are designed to keep heat inside during the winter and cool air inside during the summer so you don't have so many air conditioning costs.

Replace all your light bulbs. I did this about a year ago and really have not yet seen a change in my power bill, but that is what everyone is raving about and it is pretty cheap if you go to Costco or Sams Club.
