Zeek girl, you are on the right track. You can't beat a good pork tenderloin on the grill. Those who say you can have never had it done right.

Like many of the other posters, I like to begin with a light marinate if possible made with some olive oil and your favorite seasonings. I like a seasoning blend called Adobo with pepper. It is basically garlic powder, ground oregano and salt and pepper so you could mix this up yourself it you wish. After it sits a spell in the oil and seasoning and your coals are nice and hot, I like to spread water soaked apple chips or similar wood chips on the coals and get them smoking really well and grill searing hot.

At this point I drop the tenderloin on and sear for a couple minutes on each side. Then cover the grill and close the ventilation holes on top of your grill until a steady steam of smoke continues to bellow out but not enough so there are flames under the hood.

For a large tenderloin, perhaps 4 inches around it will take about 20 minutes per side. When you meat thermometer hits 160 degrees it's time to remove. I leave on a platter for 5 minutes and then slice thinly. It should be succulent and flavorful.

A tenderloin done in the oven is fine, but none compare to one done properly on a grill. So smoky and soooooo gooood!

Good luck!

You can do a tenderloin on a grill you just want lower heat than normal. You also want to watch it pretty closely. I would suggest starting with a marinade or injectable seasoning of your liking then a topical rub to compliment an injected brine. I love a soluable BBQ w/ a topical BBQ rub. then do an indiret heat with the grill. If it is Charcoal then put the coals around the outside edge of the grate w/ the loin in the middle. This will keep the fire from burning the meat and will act kind of like an oven. I would also use some kind of smoke pelletts like a hickory or mesquite, but apple or sugar maple work well too.

I agree with the second answer. If you want tender pork, which you should, the only way to do it is in the oven, a really simple way to do it is just put a bit of wine in the bag along with the tenderloin and leave it to roast.

I take whatever spices I can find in my pantry -- garlic, thyme, oregano, ital seasoning, basil, salt and pepper, etc ... and run it over the pork. I then wrap the pork in tin foil to seal in all the flavor and juice. It is really good .. and little clean-up.

throw that bad boy on the grill and when it is just about done, about 10 min before, put your fav BBQ sauce on it. You could also use the injecter stuff to put some inside of it, that is really great. can i come over for dinner?lol

if you have time, baste it lightly in oil with a few herbs for an hour or so (tenderise the surface with a fork so it can soak in), and then grill quickly so it is crispy while fresh on inside,.servie with stir fry vegeatbles to keep it crisp all round

Get tin foil, put in the meat, marinade and spices/veggies/peppers whatever you want with it, wrap the tin foil all up and throw it on the grill! YUMMY!

I like to barbecue mine.
Marinate it in Dale's, worcestershire, and spices (of your choice).
Baste it with BBQ sauce during the last 15 mins of cooking.
Man, I'm getting hungry!
