The Jewish Book of Jasher holds tradition that Melchizedek was the son of Noah -- Shem.

Joshua 10:13 "... Is not this written in the book of Jasher? ..."
2Samuel 1:18 "... behold, it is written in the book of Jasher."

I did the math and found that Shem would have died when Isaac was 50 years old -- 10 years before Jacob was born. Shem would have been highly revered as the oldest living man at that time and as a dedicated follower of the One True God in Heaven. Thus, he was referred to as "the priest of the most high God."

The following is an Excel spreadsheet I've worked on to see whom of the Patriarchs were contemporaries of whom else.

Melchizedek (sometimes spelled Melchisedek), whose name means “king of righteousness” was a king of Salem (Jerusalem) and priest of the Most High God (Genesis 14:18-20; Psalm 110:4; Hebrews 5:6-11; 6:20-7:28).

I believe in the six day creation.

Melchizadec was a high priest, but was also king of Jerusalem from what I have read. His rule as king was short lived when he blessed Abram (Abraham) over God, and became a high priest after the fact. This is why the blessings passed on through Abraham's family.

You will find references to him in Genesis 14:8 and Psalms 110:4.

Since I am a Christian, I believe in the six days of creation. I am sorry you don't believe that.

Melchizedeck was in Salem a king / priest of the most high God. He, Abraham, Sarah and Lot were surely the only righteous ones in the area.
Gen.14:1-18;
So God gave Abraham the Promised Land covenant and in 470 years 603,550 hiers, they were law keepers, givers and law enforcers to end the kind of people living as land pirates in the land, family but not friends.

no no no. Melchizedek was a priest at the time of Abraham. But he was a man - just a man - who happened to not have any geneology or ancestry recorded. Maybe he was Shem but that is not important.

and about creation:
#2 is the most consistent with other scripture.

god bless

1- I dont know. Shem is a good guess.
2- I believe that the creation as stated in the bible means 6 creative periods. I dont think they correspond to any finite numbering system. If time is the 4th dimension, and God exists outside that dimension we would have no way to measure anything he does.

He was a forerunner or a type of the Christ which was to come. Please note that he was both priest and King.
This was not supposed to be. The priests were not supposed to be Kings and the Kings were not supposed to be Priests. Saul got in trouble because of this. But Jesus Christ is both King and Priest. That is why the Book of Hebrews say that he was a type of Melchizedek. Jesus is the King of the Jews and He is the great high priest.
