Not at all. I believe quite the opposite is true.
Meaning: I believe that "belief in god has hurt the USA."

You have to remember that the United States was NOT founded upon Christianity or any religion for that matter. Our founding fathers were secularist and many of them had no belief in a god. The word God did not appear on our money or in the pledge until the mid 1950s. The founding fathers have got to be rolling in their graves knowing how much of an influence religion has on the affairs of the US today.
If you get your morals from religion then you have problems. Religion, particularly Christianity and Islam are the most violent religions on the planet. I contend that if anyone ever actually read the Bible they would be repulsed by its sexism, homophobia, and discrimination and then they would either denounce their religion, or at the very least, seriously reconsider what it is that they believe in.

I think that the lack of religion in the U.S. can be blamed for the attack on 9-11. Also, the fact that more mothers are killing their own children is a direct result, not to mention the slaughter of unborn children. Also the rate of STD's and AIDS in America is a result. Also the number of murders compared to foreign countries is outrageous. Also the fact that the public school system is failing to teach kids and schools are closing and shootings in school can all be blamed for the fact that God and prayer were taken out of the schools in the 80's. Also, the American economy has fallen in the past decades and so has our country in the eyes of foreign countries.

Well you can see the results. This nation was founded on the rock, who is the Rock? GOD. Why this nation is falling? because they have forgotten about GOD, they take out the prayer from school, and they don't ask GOd about anything that is the problem and until this nation continues like that this nations is going to be nathing.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
We have to seek GOD every day.

A better question is how has it helped other countries. Y'know: the ones people still want to live in. Granted, we have the DRC, Zambia, Jordan and North Korea beat, but we didn't even make the top 10 this year!

Oh, in many ways it has hurt the people in the USA. I believe the main reason is that people do not give any more. Which in return turns into hatred, dishonesty, and much more.
Our one God, forgives us all for our sins. However, we think that we do not have to give our fellow man. Why is that?
On all of our bills it states, "In God We Trust". But we do not follow. Therefore, my answer is yes.

Guess I am a simpleton, too.
50 years ago there were not school shootings, teen pregnancies in record numbers, weapons and drugs being brought to schools, kids getting raped or groped in the bathrooms of schools..i could go on.
Yeah, lets take more of God out of the USA.

This country was based on gods beliefs. Look around with all of these nut cases they think they have found something better, they are wrong, and the bible will prove me out.

As you correctly conjecture, it is by far and away its greatest strength, in every single sense. Moral. Political. Economic. Industrial. And sicentific.
Unless, of course, you think you can make money out of mindless bigotry (except if you have vast amounts of oil, of course).

It hasnt really, some people are emotionally dependent on faith, but those people hav faith, the ones lacking it are the ones who got past it, and some of us in the face of disaster regain that faith, its a coping mechanism, many people blaim atheism instead of communism as the result of the fall of the soviet union, this is incorrect however.
