When you drive into a parking lot with one-way spikes, there's only one way in and one way out-no changing your mind without paying the price. If you're in the wrong lot, you still pay to get out. Going the wrong direction gets you ripped apart....

Going through Jehovah's Witness baptism is declaring yourself subject to their imposition of their mass conscience upon yours-your ability to think for yourself or question anything is out the window. If you learn something about them that makes them look bad you will lhave to keep it to yourself and deal with the anomaly instead of asking honestly. If they "disfellowship" you, any friends or family you have made there will be cut off from you. All those people who are so nice to you now will cross the street to avoid eye contact..

As convinced as you think you are when they tell you that anything negative about them is from Satan, pay close attention to the fact that they are ONLY GIVING YOU THEIR SIDE! How objective is that!

Dear Suzanne,

That is a great analogy!

Baptism itself is not a crossroads into mind control. To Christians it is a symbol, a wonderful symbol, but only a symbol.

Having rejected the teachings of the jws throughout my life I have never given what they call "baptism" any special thought.

I focus instead on the fact that the awesome uncreated Creator of the universe does not want them or anyone to be eternally separated from Him and His arm has not grown short. I continue to pray that He will remove such words as "disfellowship" and "apostate" and everything associated with such words from all people's vocabulary.

Because the Good News is that while we were yet dead in our sins, Christ died for the ungodly.

For His glory,
JOYfilled

Well I am a Christian (follower of the teachings of Christ) according to the bible, particularly the New Testament as the New Covenant of Grace has replaced the Old Covenant of Law through the sacrifce of Jesus on the Cross, the sacrificial lamb - who died for all the sins of the world, everyone's transgression of the law of God (10 commandments) That we might be made pure and holy in his sight by accepting Him as the sacrifce for our sins. Jesus who is more than a prophet and more than a teacher, more than a healer and more than a good man. He was and is the Son of God.

Baptism into the christian faith as an outward commitment to follow Jesus is worthwhile. Baptism into any other faith will not profit you at all.

I was re- baptized as a born again christian, about 2 1/2 years ago. I is leagues different from the ceremony of the Witnesses. I feel adopted by Christ, not apprehension about being able to DO everything to have salvation.

Good Question.

Your example of the parking lot is very fitting - well put. I especially love how they let young children get baptized - like they can make a decision like that!
They never claim to be objective though - they brainwash you into believing that they have the one and only truth. So once you believe that, why would you question it? I'm certainly glad I did.

great analogy, Suzanne. Another reason why it's not just another harmless way to serve our Lord.

That and about 300 other reasons.

Baptism is just a ritual, it means nothing more than what you make it out to mean
