is fantasy better than reality?
(I think it is very much, what do you think?)
(And anyone can answer this, but really, this question is aimed at the more devout and religious Christians here, because two Christian people I have spoken to have either said that they don't like fantasy cuz it ain't real, or have told me to stop daydreaming so much and focus on my Bible-in so many words, but how the hell can I focus on the Bible, WHEN EVERY OTHER DAY LIVES ARE TORN APART BECAUSE INNOCENT PEOPLE GET KILLED? Or something to that extent....
So in your humble opinions, is FANTASY better than REALITY???

BTW, it was one of my cousins who said I oughta stop daydreaming or focusing so much on things of the fantasy realm (cartoons, fiction, etc), and focus more on the Bible, but if she were in my shoes, she wouldn't be saying that shyt.

Well, in reality it sorta also depends on the situation. For me
for a LONG time, self-esteem issues have been kicking me in the ***
Tylertxa and Toby
Some times I wonder if that, itself is a fantasy, observing the world.
Tamyp:
Yup in many ways for me. Imagine having to try to fit in with everyone else
in ur race and/or generation

True, but the Bible and the world clash with each other

Thanks for the website I guess
No daydreaming alone won't work

Hmm, I recently read something on subliminal messages in Disney movies

Maybe

What a great answer. My feelings exactly; I want to escape!

True, but Reality can hurt.

Funny you asked that. I am actually a Seeker/New Age/New Thought afficianado
wondering whether or not Christianity is worth it, studying my relatives and them's religious preferences
and the way they live THEIR lives...and then observing the evil in the world and the lack of God's presence, seemingly, thereof.

Sometimes you do need some escapism.

Well, my remember my dad telling me to stop worrying about others, cuz I tend to do that (even those I don't know) and in terms of salvation-I think I'd rather change my own reality ;) (ppl can do that, really)

Fantasy is a good escape from reality, but ultimately reality wins hands down.

I like fantasy novels, TV shows, and movies, and I write fantasy stories, but for real life, I prefer reality to fantasy.
As for innocent lives getting torn apart--What has that to do with the Bible? If you think the Bible promises that pain and suffering won't happen--that's not the case.
If you're bringing up the question of how a loving God can allow pain and suffering--Pain and suffering happen. God is love. When was the last time you saw love stop a tornado?
The pain and suffering that human beings wreak upon each other is the result of our having free will. It is incumbent upon us to love each other enough not to cause pain or suffering to each other.

Do you mean reading fantasy? I like fiction, and sometimes I use it to escape from my daily life.
But if you mean constantly daydreaming, that probably isn't good for you.
If you are spending a lot of time worrying about the evil that happens in the world, you probably need some counseling. Worrying will drive you crazy.

Well Im not sure I understand what you're saying, but sometimes, I think that fantasy is better than reality. but we must always remember--fantasy IS fantasy. Reality IS reality. Reality is what we live in--fantasy is what will PROBABLY never be--depending upon the fantasy. So which should you focus on more? Reality. but fantasy is a nice thing--thats why God gave us an imagination.

i think living in fantasy is not really healthy, but it is nice to go and escape reality once in awhile because i think everybody daydreams and everything. you have to moderate it though. you should give God some time in your life though. i know stuff goes in in life we don't like, but we can't escape life completely. you still live there and stuff will happen, but just think you have someone watching over you. he is wanting to help you, but you have to let him. you should be able to take the time maybe a couple of seconds to ask for the help instead of just expecting it. i hope this helped i know it does make sense maybe not in English but stay in reality b/c there is some good things you will miss if you stay in just fantasy. :)

Be careful with what you've been told about th bible because it refers to events that happened thouseands of years ago - You have to live in today's reality with a moral standpoint; fantasy should be saved for private time only

Your friends are right, quit daydreaming. I doubt if your life is being torn apart because innocent people are being killed. Start worrying about what's going to happen to you. That's something you have complete control over. Take care of your own salvation first, then you can worry about everyone else in the world. That's what your friends have done.

Many of us require the help of anaesthetics to get through reality.
Anaesthetics come in various guises but they are ALWAYS diversions.
Anaesthetics can include legal and illegal drugs, computer games, Y!A and or forums in general, TV, sport, work, reading, shopping, travelling AND Religion.
Religion is the best known and most well accepted of all Fantasy spinners.

I'm a died in the wool borne again believer and I love fantasy.
Still, the reality of the Living God and the savior he has given us can't be beat.
Life is extremely painful at times. right?
I don't have to watch reality programs. I can turn on the news.
But in all this, I have within me, eternity, and I know therefor that the calamities and heart breaks, even the joy, love, happiness and pleasures of this life are not to be compared with Gods Kingdom.

Disney is cool, and Mother Goose has always taught valuable lessons to children. But, there are those that try to subliminally indoctrinate children with bad things through certain works of fantasy. So I'd say its a mixed bag.
