My dad is visiting this week. My mom is in another province so he's comign down for a while..which is good because I havent seen him in FOREVERR!!<33
Anyways.. Im dieting.
And tonight he called and asked if Shake n Bake chicken was okay.
I said sure, whatever, because I didn't want him to have to make anything else after he had already bought it.
So my question is. Is chicken skin really all that horrible for you?
If I don't have the chicken skin, I'm simply not eating the chicken, I'll gace abagel. So, answer please, and tell me why. Easy ten points, no?

There is a lot of controversy about the trans fat which is the "bad stuff" in chicken skin. Doctors are always changing what they say is healthy and unhealthy. Right now they site studies which note that it is not healthy to eat the skin.

So, what do I think? I think much of health is hereditary. We all know (or have heard of) people who ate bacon and smoked cigars all their lives and lived to be 99...The actor George Burns was one.

Trans fat can aggravate cholesterol problems if you are prone to cholesterol problems. We all cannot eat like saints all the time...so my advice it: Eat the chicken with your dad...enjoy his company....eat some fresh fruit and veggies to clear your palette, arteries, and conscience.

You could look at it this way: Have the chicken with the skin on and eat less of it. Or take the skin off and eat all of it. Almost all of the fat in chicken is in the skin. But if you eat a higher concentration of fat in the meal, you will probably feel full sooner and eat less of it. Or you could skip desert and have all the chicken you want.
Try not to stress and enjoy this time with your dad!

PS: There is no "trans-fat" in chicken skin as above poster states. Thans fat is chemically altered vegetable oil that is made to be solid at room temperature (ie: margarine and processed foods) The fat in chicken skin is saturated fat, which comes from animal products, which is the artery-clogging kind. But at least it's all natural, and able to be processed by the body of a young healthy person.

The chicken skin has some fat in it, but just eating it once won't make too much difference. It will be baked. You can peel off the skin and just eat the chicken meat to cut calories. Chicken, even with the skin, isn't as bad as a cheeseburger or deluxe pizza. Have a good time visiting with your father.

listen, Chicken skin is not that horribly bad that you should worry about it so much to post a question on yahoo answers all worried n crap. Youre probably like 100 lbs and have nothing to worry about anyways... Your dad wants to make you dinner. Just eat and enjoy it. There are some people who dont have a shoe to munch on for dinner and would kill for your chicken skin.

I would just eat it and not worry about it. It's not like you are going to eat it all that frequently.
