It's illegal in the UK to breed any ***** who is younger than a year. People are advising wait until at least 2. I would say that sounds sensible. But surely if you wanted to do that (not sure if you do) you would know?
Remember the risk of pyometras and mammary tumours in unspayed bitches. Pyos are very common even they haven't been pregnant- leaving them unspayed or breeding a dog has its fair share of risks.

you can technically breed any dog once they have their first heat at 6 months old, some people say skip the first heat and breed them after that, but ideally you should breed them at 2 years old because by then they finised growing and are more capable of accepting a litter at that time and it won't stunt their crucial growth as a puppy. Only breed for the betterment of the breed and for breed standard.

With all large breeds they are not supposed to be bred till the reach 2 years of age since that is when proper screening of their hips, elbows, eyes can be done.

To make sure you have healthy puppies and parents it's best you wait till the mother is at least 2 years of age so both parents can undergo the genetic screening required to alleviate any possible birth defect to her potential puppies.

I agree with Gems.... and don't breed until you have a family for every single puppy that you expect.... oh oh and all the money to pay for shots for all of the puppies, and in the unfortunate event that the pregnancy doesn't go as planned.

NEVER prior to two years of age and that is only after both CERF and OFA certs have been accomplished and filed as well as at least a Ch title being achieved in AKC standings.

You don't need to be breeding them, you need to be spaying and neutering them. 80,000 dogs are turned into shelters every year. 1 out of 4 are adopted. 60,000 are euthanized every year. Please don't contribute to the overpopulation, euthanization rate! Again, Spay and Neuter your pets. Leave breeding to the professionals. Trust me, your dogs will be much happier and healthier in the long run!

confirmation titles? championship points? ofa and cerf scores? heart, thyroid, kidney and liver ratings?
giant breeds take longer to mature so NEVER earier than 2 years old, however it would be better to not breed her before shes 3, and not untill you can answer those questions with official results that means shes worthy of breading...
