What is an approximate price to have a feline spayed?

My vet gave me an exstimate of $305.

It depends on where you are. I live in Phoenix, AZ. To get my cat spayed, it cost me $75. Fifty of that was the actual spaying, the other 25 was to remove a cyst that she had on her ovaries.

West coast prices are a lot higher than the midwest. Here it's $150 for spaying, $120 for a male. There are low cost neuter/spay clinics in most states (do a search on google.com) which can go as low as $25 per cat, or even a little lower.

$305 for a straightforward spaying is awful high. Call other vet clinics in the phone book and ask their prices, they should have set fees for the proceedure and you can compare prices in your area. Ask them, also, about low cost neuter/spay.

That is a CRAZY price. The vet is trying to rip you off. I am glad you want to seek a better price. I have just the answer. Go to Friends Of Animals or it may be www.foa.com or org (I forget)(google it or something). They will send you a discount spay certificate I think for $55 (I think for a female, male maybe $45 something like that). I use them all the time, the only catch is you must go to one of their participating vets. They send you a booklet and you choose from one in your area.

These (FOA) vets are not rip offs they are truly compassionate to participate in this program. They are also excellent practitioners.

Is the cat a male or a female? That's a little high for a male but about right for a female, you might be able to find a cheaper one if you call all the vets in town and ask how much they charge but I'll bet the price doesn't vary by more that a few bucks

At our local animal shelter (tampa, fl) its $50 including rabies vacc...for $120 its spay/neuter, rabies vacc, feline luk test and vacc, feline aids vacc and a location chip.

if u get ur dog spayed at a local shelter it usualy cost $150
