You chew your food, swallow it goes into your stomach and on into your digestive system where it is digested. Do some foods digest faster than other, sure. But it's the same process.

Breads start in the mouth then finish in the stomach.
Meats and Cheeses in the stomach
Veges in the stomach ... but never fully digested.

The mouth prepares for digestion, the stomach does the work, the intestines absorb the nutrients and remove the yuckie stuff to be scientific.

Digestion starts with the mouth. Chewing your food into small pieces and adding gastric juices from the mouth help it in the stomach. As it passes into the small intestine, bile and other gastric juices help dissolve and absorb nutrients from the food. It next goes into t he large bowel or colon and continues the precess of digestion and absorption - most of the water is taken out here too. The next step is to pass it.
It is important not to drink too much during a meal because the liquid dilutes the gastric juices.
