I am having a BIG problem..
I cannot stop eatin fast food ! I am an emotional eater unfortnately and when things go wrong I eat ! I started eating at Arbys, Wendys, Burger King, and Mcdonalds for lunch at work.. it was quick easy and conveinent... and now I cannot stop eating at those places.. even when i bring my lunch I go out and eat at one of those places..... and If I dont I end up only stopping on my way home. Even with the last 2.00 in my pocket I would stop and just get somehting.. its strange... and puttin on the pounds badly... I wrote in this question before and alot fo people suggested going to a doctor.. and I think it is a good idea because this is getting out of control... but what kind of doctor do I go to ... and I feel as if my primary care physian will ignore my problem if I tel him... so who helps with these kinds of things?

Some family doctors can deal with this issue, but you probably should go to a psychologist who does behavioral therapy. Most doctors don't have the training for this.

Doctor ignores my back pain, so indeed..
well it may be results-oriented.. but maybe see a nutritionist. Or pre-pack your lunch. Eat better foods.
Or just substitute the emotional release.
A psychologist is one process-oriented route here, seemingly, but they aren't cheap, unless you can claim job stress & get them to pay
A psychiatrist costs as well, they would more likely give you some type of necessary presciption, or just a mild happy pill..

Substitute eating with something else.. maybe go play sport for a few, to release some energy..

Try spending the first half of your lunch doing an activity that would just really make you happy, playing an instrument, listening to music.. Plan something fun ahead of time, and you can look forward to it

eat smaller snacks thruout the day, so your blood sugar, etc, won't want that Mcdonalds rush, and you'll less like to gorge.

Many people don't understand that NOT eating makes them gain weight. That is, like deprieving yourself of breakfast, your body is then running off fat, or muscle. More, smaller meals ethic.

a psychiatrist or therapist. However I can tell you from experience (I have dealt with both about my drug addiction) that they will tell you that eating disorders are the hardest of all addictions to treat. Good luck!

I don't know of any support groups (I have A.A. & N.A.) for people with eating disorders, if you can find one I would highly recommend it. It's actually the best thearpy you can get and oly costs a buck per session.

There are therapists who specialize in addiction issues and compulsive behavior. Check with your family doctor and see if you can get a referral.

Overeater's Anonymous may be helpful. http://www.oa.org/index.htm
And, one of the reasons Weight Watchers is so successful is because they offer support - someone to talk to and coach you.

A counselor suggested going to O.A. or Overeater's Anonymous. Find one in your area and see if that might help.

I would talk to your primary care DR and see if he'll refer you to a mental health spec.
