i dont know the DC area at all and i am trying to take the washington flyer coach from the Metro West Falls Church Station to Dulles (IAD) airport.
the schedule they have on the website says it takes about 20-30min to make the trip but i have to take either the 4:15 or the 4:45 one.
my international flight leaves at 8pm.

The Dulles Flyer rides in dedicated lanes (aka Dulles Airport Access Road) about 3 miles past the Metro Station. Unless those dedicated lanes or the stretch of VA 267 between the Station and those dedicated lanes are affected by an accident or other event, the trip does take 20-30 minutes. You will be at Dulles before 5 PM

The traffic will be heavy but when the bus gets on the Dulles Airport road, it will go fast. The Dulles Airport road is dedicated to only airport traffic. If you get the 4:15 bus, you should be at the airport in no more than 1 hour and more likely around 45 minutes.

Take either one - you'll have plenty of time. Using the Dulles Access road, it should take no more than 30 min. from West Falls Ch.

The amount of traffic on the Dulles Toll Road won't matter - they're parallel but separate roadways. Besides, Monday is the lightest day of the week, on that road, at that time of day.

Well, you'll actually be traveling in Northern Virginia, and I-66 westbound during afternoon rush hours is no fun at all. Always best to take the earlier shuttle in the event of traffic problems. And since you are flying internationally, DEFINITELY take the earlier one because you don't know what fun and games TSA may have in store that day. You should take into account delays and heavy crowds at the *airports*, especially during December.

DC traffic can be unpredictable, especially during rush hour. Once you're on the toll road to Dulles you shouldn't have any problems, but I'd err on the side of caution and take the early shuttle just to be safe.

The traffic would be better in hell. Take the earlier one, because it will definitely be longer than 30 minutes. You're headed outbound during afternoon rush hour.
