pply a thin coat of ointment to the tattoo,
Aquaphor, A&D Ointment and Tattoo Goo are all very good.
(Just enough to make it shine, a little goes a long way...) Work it in well.
Dab off all the excess with a paper towel. You should barely be able to tell that it's there... This is just enough to keep the tattoo moist and to keep it from scabbing. Your body heat will liquefy the ointment and it may become glossy looking or runny. This means there's too much on there. Dab more off. Too much ointment will only suffocate the tattoo and liquefy any scabs that may have formed causing the ink to fall out and look blotchy. There is no need to re-bandage the tattoo. Aquaphor, A&D Ointment, Tattoo Goo and Vitamin E Oil can all be very good for your new tattoo.

I use Eucerin with oatmeal. It's a calming creme that has no aloe in it (Aloe draws foreign things out of the skin. Ink = foreign.) so it helps to get rid of itch. Plus it's thick so it smooths in nicely and helps keep my tattoos moist when I can't reapply for a bit. (Like at work.)

like everyone is saying, keep it moisturized. Mine still itched too, but DO NOT scratch, I would lightly tap it with my finger and it worked. It probably was more of a pyschological thing, but it worked. Do something to take your mind of the itching.

oh i know the feeling...
did you get any 'balm' from the tattoo parlor?...like Tattoo Goo? put some of that on it...it should help...or some unscented, not frilly lotion, some basic stuff.
otherwise just try not to think about it...and if it does itch...to the "tap"...just tap it or lightly hit it...soudns weird but it helps some...and way better then itching it...

whatevery you do DON'T ITCH! rub around it gently or pat it, if you itch it it'll scab & parts of your tattoo will need a touch up. it'll only be itchy for a few days but it's completely worth it :)

after 3 days you can start putting plain lubriderm. it's made my tattoos come out perfectly. :) and took the itch away

Use some A&D ointment, just enough to cover the tatoo, dont put big globs on it.

Slap it. And then scratch the area AROUND the tattoo.

Bactine's best -- disinfects & anesthetisizes the itch! moisturizers don't relieve itching.
