Wow. People sure sound panicky about your swollen lymph node. I would advise you not to panic!! Of course, you should go to the doctor and get it checked out without delay. However, it could be one of many things, not all of them are all doom and gloom. Are you sure that it is even a swollen lymph node? It could be a cyst, which is actually quite a common occurrence in the neck area. Always get things checked out though, because you need real experts (not just us answer people on Yahoo) to diagnose you. Good luck!

Well you need your lymph nodes to filter lymph. You have always had Lymph nodes and your are born with them. They are human organs. The thing is that they can get cancer, and enourmous growth is a sign of the disease. Often they will swell if you have a cold or if you are ill (they help with your immune system), but i would see a doctor since it has been a year.

EVERYONE has lymph nodes in their neck. i think you mean that you have a swollen lymph node. have you been to the doctor? usually when cancer spreads it goes to your lymph nodes which are located all throughout your body. i would say that you might have some viral infection but if its been there for a year.... why has it been there for a year? do you not visit physicians?? go get it checked out!!!

Get this checked out immediately...my husband had a knot that showed up on his neck and it was cancer in his lymph nodes...unfortuneatly for him, it spread, and once it gets in the bloodstream, the outlook is not good, so Please, get to the doctor and don't waste your time with a GP, get to a Ear, Nose, Throat doctor, time is of the essence. Hopefully it is nothing but you cannot afford to waste precious time ignoring it or thinking it will go away. Good luck to you

Omg. This happened to me too! Except I only had one that was huge on my neck. I got on a lot of meds but they didn't help so i got 2 blood tests. I had to go to an oncologist. I got a lot more tests, no lymphoma showed. But I got a biopsy surgery anyway...And I was alright. After that I was fine. It was just an old infection stuck in there. But you might have lymphoma...It's really easy to treat with medications however so don't worry. usually it's not but you might have to get it drained. weird huh.

Please just have it checked out. You never know. I wouldn't risk it though. My mother had a lump an her neck and it ended up being thyroid cancer. She passed when I was 15. Now I'm 24 nad terrified about anything like that. Definitely get it looked at. Better safe than sorry.

first of all you have lymph glands located all over your body. second of all, yes there could be something seriously wrong such as lymphoma or it could be something as small as an infected gland. you should contact your doctor first thing in the morning and schedule an appointment.

You could have a simple infection of some kind. But you should definitely see your dr to rule out something more serious.
